OUR STORY

We’re Joel and Amy Malin – two design obsessives who can’t stop thinking about furniture. Can’t stop making it, either. It took us a while to get here. As the owners of Modern Times, we’ve spent 10 years hunting down, restoring, selling and sitting on vintage European furniture. We’ve pulled apart all the great designer couches, worked out what makes them special, then put them back together again. And now we’re putting what we’ve learned into practice, creating a new range of sofas that blend vintage craftsmanship with contemporary living. Couches informed by the past and designed for tomorrow. Seating for people who love beautiful objects as much as they love putting up their feet. Curious? WHAT WE STAND (AND SIT) FOR

We believe in making the best damn sofas possible. That’s why we labour over every part of the design and manufacturing process, choose only the best materials, and work tirelessly to blend form and function into something you can’t help but want to sit on. Of course, good design means more than making nice-looking things. It means being good, full stop. That’s why all our sofas (and cushions, and ottomans, and footrests) are made using ethical and sustainable practices: responsibly sourced timber, cruelty-free textiles, no nasty chemicals. Materials and methods that are good for the living room and the planet. And because our sofas are made to last an aeon, not a fashion cycle, you can take (literal) comfort in buying well, buying once. Permanent Future – furniture to live on (and on).
